Silent Prayers of Repentance
Corporate Prayer of Confession
O Lord God, who in your tender compassion
sent your Son to be our Savior,
have mercy upon your sinful servants.
We have sinned against you and fallen short of your glory
and are not worthy to appear in your holy presence.
We have left the way of your righteousness
and have walked after the waywardness of our own hearts.
Yet you are a God of great goodness and unfailing love,
and you delight to show mercy to those who trust in you.
Hear our cry, O Lord, and be gracious to your people:
forgive us all our sins,
and help us to put off the old ways.
Grant that we, being strengthened by your Spirit,
might put on the new man,
created in the likeness of Christ Jesus our Lord,
and walk in the way of your commandments.
This we pray in the name of Jesus, our Savior. Amen.

We Praise God for Our Salvation
Hymn: Hail, Thou Once Despised Jesus! (Tune 180)
1.
Hail, thou once despisèd Jesus!
Hail, Thou Galilean king!
Thou didst suffer to release us;
Thou didst free salvation bring.
Hail, Thou universal Savior,
bearer of our sin and shame!
By Thy merit we find favor;
life is given through Thy name.
2.
Paschal Lamb, by God appointed,
all our sins on Thee were laid;
by almighty Love anointed,
Thou hast full atonement made:
all Thy people are forgiven
through the virtue of Thy blood;
opened is the gate of heaven;
peace is made ’twit man and God.
3.
Jesus, hail, enthroned in glory,
there forever to abide!
All the heav’nly host adore Thee,
seated at Thy Father’s side.
There for sinners Thou art pleading;
there Thou dost our place prepare;
ever for us interceding,
till in glory we appear.
4.
Worship, honor, pow’r, and blessing
Thou art worthy to receive;
highest praises, without ceasing,
meet it is for us to give.
Help, ye bright angelic spirits,
bring your sweetest, noblest lays;
help to sing our Savior’s merits;
help to chant Immanuel’s praise!
Proclamation
God Speaks to Us through His Word
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 7:1–10
Sermon: “The King of Righteousness and Peace”
Dedication
We Respond to God’s Word
Hymn: Jehovah Is My Righteousness (Tune 260)
Jehovah is my righteousness:
In him alone I’ll boast.
My tongue his mercy shall confess.
Who seeks and saves the lost.
When sunk in fears, with anguish pressed,
Bowed down with weighty woe;
My weary soul in him finds rest:
From him my comforts flow.
I’ll lay me down, and sweetly sleep;
For I have peace with God.
And when I wake, he shall me keep;
Through faith in Jesus’ blood.
Ten thousand and ten thousand foes
Shall not my soul destroy.
My God their counsels overthrows;
And turns my grief to joy.
