18.04.08 CTK Worship Guide – Easter 2

(General explanation of how we order our services.)

We celebrated Christ’s resurrection from the dead last Lord’s Day, but our remembrance is not over! Really, every Lord’s Day service is in honor of Christ’s resurrection, but we have the opportunity to give this wondrous truth special attention over the next several weeks.

Our service will being with a reading of John 20:19-31, an account of Jesus’s appearance to his disciples, including Doubting Thomas. We will rejoice once again in Christ’s resurrection, witnessed by many, through singing Hymn 168: Jesus Christ Is Risen Today (YouTube), a Prayer of Praise, and our Easter Doxology.

A reading of Isaiah 1:18-20 will remind us of our unworthiness to approach the risen Savior, calling us to consider once again our need for his atonement. We will respond with Hymn 81: Depth of Mercy (Audio), silent prayers of repentance, and our Corporate Prayer of Confession.

1 Peter 1:3-5 will announce to us one again that “according to his great mercy, God has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” We will respond with Hymn 176: I Know That My Redeemer Lives (Tune: 105) (YouTube).

Proclamation & Dedication

David will preach from Hosea 8.

We will be sent out rejoicing in Christ’s victory over sin and death with Hymn 145: His Be the Victor’s Name (Audio)
